With their help we made it
“I LOVE CATS BECAUSE I ENJOY MY HOME; AND LITTLE BY LITTLE, THEY BECOME ITS VISIBLE SOUL.” – JEAN COCTEAU
While we spent last year in our pajamas, homeschooling our kids and figuring out how to make 2020 feel ok, our cats were there for us. On our laps, at our desks, and always ready to make our days just a bit more livable. They helped us stay sane during this crazy year. Let's make sure that we say thank you by giving them more of what they need to continue helping us gracefully shoulder the world's weight.
As we get out into the world again, it is essential to give our cats what they need to be happy and healthy. Being obligate carnivores descending from the Middle East's deserts, our domestic cats thrive on meat based diets rich in moisture. While raw diets are amazing, for many of us it simply isn't a viable option. Fortunately there are many canned, pouch and raw-dried foods that can increase your cats health and well being that are both convenient and deliver optimal nutrition.
3 key benefits of adding wet food to your cats diet
Cats originating in deserts tend only to drink as much water as they need at any moment, and many live their lives in a state of dehydration. They are at risk of developing kidney disease, bladder inflammation, urinary and urethral obstructions, and related issues. A wet diet's high moisture content aligns with their evolution, giving them needed water while eating meat.
LEAN BODY MASS
Wet food is high in protein, which supports strong muscles, ligaments, bones, and organs. It also helps to keep them maintain a lean body mass (LBM). As cats age, it becomes increasingly challenging to maintain LBM or even more challenging to bring their weight down if needed. A wet diet with high protein content can help cats keep a healthy body into their senior years.
Like many people, cats crave variety in their diets. Because wet food cans and pouches are small, it’s simple to provide various flavors and textures to see what your cat loves and satisfy their desire for something new and exciting. An additional benefit to wet foods is that they are highly digestible, which means that there will be less stool to scoop out of the litter box.
